MEET THE RIDERS

We are proud to announce the 6 rider squad who will be dawning the Falcons race jackets this season in the Midland & Southern Development League as well as the Falcons home and away fixtures.

Falcons team manager Alan Spencer said “I’ve put together a squad that can only improve throughout the season and that’s what this league is all about”. Alan also went into detail about the 6 riders representing the Falcons this season.

Adam Sheppard came back last season after 2 years out and rode for the Falcons. He made some massive improvements throughout the season and that earned him a team with Plymouth this season.

James Chattin has only been riding for a couple of years but has made some steady progress. He did have quite a serious crash last season that slowed that progress down slightly but with the right people behind him, he’ll be pushing for a National League spot before long.

Kai Ward is a 15 year old North Devon lad and had his first go at speedway in 2016 at a Ride and Slide and has had a few more track days since. Kai definitely has potential and is willing to learn. He’s set himself a target of being on the Falcons top 4 for next season.

Kris Andrews is the older brother of Plymouth Gladiators Richard Andrews and has been out of the sport for about 7 years. However he has taken part in some training days and is looking smooth and steady and along with Richard and Father Gary behind him I can see him progressing well.

Max Pankhurst really wanted to be back with the Falcons this season. He made a lot of strides last season and has spent a lot of money in the closed season as well. Max is keen to push for a National League place and in fairness to Max he isn’t far from achieving that goal.

Saul Bulley in the last couple of seasons had lost his way a little, but with a new hunger for racing he has made some massive improvements before the season has even started. Working closely with Richard Andrews has really benefited Saul and he is definitely one to watch for this season and I can see him pushing for a National League spot before long.

Alan Spencer also added “it’s exciting times ahead for the Falcons especially it being our 90th anniversary. As individuals the team are great guys and I’m sure they will work well as a team. I’m looking forward to working with them all and seeing them all improve throughout the season. An improving team is a winning team.

Falcons Director Mattie Bates added “Alan has put together a solid team and myself and the Exeter management couldn’t be happier with the team he’s put together”. Bates also added “obviously myself and Mark Phillips will be keeping a close eye on all of the lads and hopefully before long they will be ready to make that jump into the National League and maybe some guest appearances for the Gladiators”.
